Founded in 2015 when Jurgens Strydom retreated to small town Tsumeb to write an album that would be authentic and true to himself and his heritage. Being Afrikaans and having been heavily influenced by Rock music prior to this retreat, this album became an Afrikaans rock album and Blikweg was born.
Blikweg is fronted by Jurgens Strydom on guitar and vocals and joined on guitar by Macon Campbell who has his roots deep in the Namibian metal/rock scene. On drums is Wayne Wentzel who has been drumming for a variety of the hottest bands in Namibia since high school. Edward Taylor from the beloved former local blues band ‘Brown Paper Bag’ takes care of the bottom end on bass guitar.
High energy Afrikaans rock can be expected…
